Steps to take a plane

Check in
To notify the airline you have arrived at the airport. The airport personnel will take your suitcase and give you a boarding pass.
The area of the airport where you report your presence is also called check-in.

Boarding Pass
After you have notified the airline you are at the airport and you’ve checked your luggage, you will be given a boarding pass that shows you where the plane will be boarding and your seat number.

Preboarding
The moment when the boarding process begins. Usually, airlines will use preboarding to allow families with children or persons with disabilities to board the aircraft to give them extra time to settle in, before calling the rest of the passengers.

Final Boarding
Last call to board before the jet bridge closes and the flight departs, leaving late passengers stranded.

Wheels-up time
The time the aircraft is scheduled to be airborne.
