18/04/17 Disclose, Expose and Divulge
All three words mean “to make (something) known.” But disclose does not carry the connotations of scandal that expose does, nor the connotations of betrayal or confession that divulge does.
- disclose financial backing
- expose corruption
- divulge trade secrets
To expose something is also to place it in danger:
- expose to liability
- expose to the elements
Or to reveal to view:
- The curtain rose, exposing an elaborate set.
- The flasher was arrested for exposing himself in public.
