26/7/19 Does “FIT” mean the same as “SUIT”?
  • These words do not mean exactly the same. Fit refers to size and shape: if your clothes fit you, they are neither too big nor too small.
    • These shows don’t fit me – do you have a larger size?
    Suit refers to style, color etc.
    • Red and black are colors that suit me very well.
    • Do you think this style suits me?
    Suit can also be used to talk about whether arrangements and situations are convenient.
    • Tuesday morning would suit me very well for the meeting.
