23/1/19 Prima facie

Prima facie is a Latin term that means “at first sight” or “on the first appearance.”

When used as an adjective, as in the case of prima facie evidence, the term means “sufficient to establish a fact or raise a presumption unless disproved or rebutted.” Prima facie can also be used as an adverb meaning “on first appearance but subject to further evidence or information,” as in prima facievalid.
