Be careful because although they may look similar, they are in fact pretty different.
- Illegible describes handwriting or printing that is not clear enough to be read <it was the victim’s handwriting, but the words were illegible>.
- Unreadable refers to content that is so poorly written as to be almost impossible to understand <the judge dreaded the thought of opening another unreadable brief>.
