The Use of Partly and Partially

If the parts are physical or the measure is of an extent, use partly <a partly finished building>.
If speaking of a quality or the measure is of degree, use partially <partially recovered from an illness>.
If either word works in the context, choose partly as less ambiguous: partially also means “showing favoritism” <the shares were partially divided among the children

[incompletely divided, or unfairly divided?]>.
